The Full Story
Church History
Open Door Church was founded by Elder Roosevelt Tuggle Sr. in 1949. During that time, it was a small dwelling, but it would be packed with church members for Sunday Services. Years later, the Lord spoke to Pastor Tuggle Sr. and said “A New House”.
The Mission
Pastor Tuggle Sr. had church in the dining hall prior to the new building being constructed. After the long laborious process, the new House was completed approximately five years later.
Praise God, the people had a mind to work. Furthermore, Sister Leola Tuggle was a fervent worker and constant assistant to her husband. After many years of labor, Open Door’s second generation took up the mantle with new ideas and creativity. Prior to Roosevelt Tuggle Jr. accepting the pastorship, his mother Leola Tuggle left on record these words to her son “The race is not given to the swift or the battle to the strong, but those who endures to the end.” On Sunday January 7, 1990, Elder Roosevelt Tuggle Jr. was installed as Pastor of the Open Door Church.
